Italia 0 Arsenal 1 Gianlucio Pizzigalli scored twice as Juventus cruised to victory over AC Milan to extend their unbeaten run to nine games and move to within three points of second-placed Juventus.
The hosts had gone into the match with only a point from three games in Serie A and the result came on the back of a 1-0 win over Sampdoria.
It was a match in which Pizzegalli set up a goal and set up another for teammate Marco Fassone to put the Giallorossi ahead in the 23rd minute.
Juventus keeper Adriano Borrini’s first-time save from Gianlucho Gabbiadini’s shot from a corner was parried by Pizzigi, who fired in a 25-yard free-kick to double the lead.
The home side then took the lead in the 29th minute through the efforts of Pizzigliani, who was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Gabbiano in the box after a corner had been turned into his path.
Gabbiades goal was turned over by the Milan keeper after being sent into the area by Ponzigali, who then found the net himself.
Pizzigali then doubled the advantage with his second of the game just after the hour mark, when he blasted home his second after a deflected effort from a Gabbiani corner.
The visitors’ defence held up well, with Alessandro Nesta and Gabbiati unable to force their way past the Milan defence, but there was a danger when Pizzi found himself fouled in the area after taking a long throw-in from Nesta.
The ball hit Gabbia’s foot and he stepped up to punch the ball home.
The Bianconeri remain just two points behind second-place Juventus, who have a game in hand on the Rossoneri, but they have only just begun to claw their way back into the picture after a run of three wins from three matches.
